It takes time to get the rolling of the prints just right and also to figure out how much chemicals are needed to avoid stripes on the photographs...

My rough guideline would be 15-18 litres in the narrow trays and more in the trays that has a centre pole.

So how did it get to work in the end?

1) make sure that the print is not too wet or too dry

2) make sure the gum tape is only wet on the glue side

3) put 1/3 of tape on photograph and 2/3 on wall

4) avoid a heat source or direct ventilation close by

My photographs are 130cm by between 150-180cm and they take around four hours to dry at 20c.

‘Healing’ an Art Project at Medical Museion Nov/Dec 2011; areas of interest

The Auditorium is the projects cornerstone. For me it is ascertained knowledge exemplified with all it’s contradictions. Through photographing I will continuely explore the auditorium during the coming weeks.

•

Time as a phenomenon; objects from any period are of relevance for my project.

•

Placebo and Nocebo (suggesting the body has the ability to heal and make ill).

I am a bit at loss with how these may be represented in your collection?

•

Histology (tissue samples, cell specimens) and drawn illustrative diagrams of these, are all the inspiration for the way I draw on my photographs. I draw (with a technical ink pen) small black circles which nest together in groups. On my website you can see an example at http://www.jespersen.co.uk/ArtWorks/suction2.html

The brain, the hands and the eyes are all body parts I have worked with before and which I am keen to continue working with.

•

Hand tools for operating the brain, the hands and the eyes.

The most normal tools (which collection wise isn’t special, since you may have heaps of them), which have a vital role in healing and the medical history, would be interesting to include. I am curious about ‘the overlooked’ or those tools (objects) which are being taken for granted in the medical environment although they are essential. I would like to photograph a selection of these objects in groups; in a classic still-life style.

•

Medical objects in silver... there is a beautiful connection to the analogue black and white photograph. I have worked with silver before partly because of it’s historical notions of healing.

•

Old photographs and negatives (including xrays). It would be lovely to see some of these. If there are any photographs or negs that is not part of the official collection and therefore could be used... that would be fantastic.
